The Falcons offseason is going to revolve around what they do at the quarterback position, but there are other roster needs that have to be addressed too.
The three most pressing are wide receiver, edge, and cornerback, in that order. Drake London is the only wideout under contract with any semblance of NFL experience, so it’s going to be a focal point of the offseason.
Fortunately, the receiver markets are robust with options, but one potential free agent target is off the board. The Bengals have placed the franchise tag on Tee Higgins as the two sides try to negotiate a new deal.
Higgins dealt with a myriad of injuries this past season, only playing 11 games, putting up 42 receptions for 656 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Now, he’s in line for a lucrative contract with Cincinnati.
Higgins was considered the top receiver in the free agent class, one that features Mike Evans, Tyler Boyd, Calvin Ridley, Michael Pittman, Calvin Ridley, Darnell Mooney, Gabe Davis, Tyler Boyd, Curtis Samuel, and others.
Tee Higgins was going to be considered a Falcons free agent target because of connections and Atlanta’s need for a No. 2 to pair with Drake London. He shares the same agent as Kyle Pitts, Jessie Bates, and A.J. Terrell, so the thought was that Higgins would be a natural fit.
Thankfully, as mentioned before, the Falcons have plenty of other options to fill the void, even through the draft. At the top, Rome Odunze and Malik Nabers could be in play at the Falcons’ No. 8 selection.
