There’s been a lot of talk recently surrounding the potential trade of White Sox ace Dylan Cease. The Braves have consistently been mentioned as possible suitors, but he’s far from the only noteworthy name on the market.
Most industry experts believe there is nearly a 100% chance Tyler Glasnow is traded before the start of the season as he enters the last year of his deal with the Rays, and now Jon Heyman is reporting that rivals believe there is a “decent chance” the Brewers move off of three-time All-Star and 2021 NL Cy Young award winner Corbin Burnes.
Rivals who’ve talked to the Brewers believe there’s a decent chance they will move ace Corbin Burnes this winter

Corbin Burnes is entering the final year of his contract, and as a client of Scott Boras, it seems unlikely he signs an extension before testing free agency, where he will fetch a contract among the highest earners in the sport.
The Braves don’t typically like dealing with Boras clients because they hate bidding wars, which is exactly what they’ll get this time next year if they make a trade for Burnes. However, the potential reward could be a World Series in 2024, which would be appealing to any general manager, especially with the outlook of the rest of the Braves current roster.
Adding Burnes to a rotation of Max Fried, Spencer Strider, Charlie Morton, and Bryce Elder would almost feel like collecting another infinity stone. The Braves group of starting pitchers would immediately sky rocket to the top of the league, to go along with an offense that was second to none last year.
The prospect of losing Burnes after just one season may deter Alex Anthopoulos, but we saw what he preferred this offseason when he made a run at Aaron Nola. He’s looking for a workhorse, and that’s exactly what Burnes has been for the Brewers. He’s made 28+ starts in each of the last three seasons, averaging nearly 190 innings per year. If durability is what Anthopoulos is looking for, he’s not going to find a much better option than Corbin Burnes.
