After sweeping the Toronto portion of their series, the Braves announced some tough news regarding Adonis Garcia. The Braves third-baseman was placed on the 10-day DL because of an achilles injury. Garcia is hitting .233 with 4 home runs and 16 RBIs on the season.
The Braves were forced to call up Johan Carmargo as his replacement. Carmargo has already seen 5 games with the big-league club and collected his first major-league hit in the short stint. The 23-yeard old has hit over .300 for the year in AAA Gwinnett. That kind of consistency, as well as Rio Ruiz’s well-documented struggles against left-handed pitching, led to the Braves choosing to go with Carmargo at this point in the season.
