Players in need of a change of scenery who the Falcons could target in a trade

NFL: DEC 25 Packers at Dolphins

The Falcons have a number of needs, and sometimes the best use of resources, which Atlanta has a limited supply of, is to buy low on a player in need of a change of scenery.

There are always players, whether it’s due to injuries, contracts, or other circumstances, that are on the trade market. For instance, last year, Atlanta moved Desmond Ridder, who had no place with the organization, for Rondale Moore, who needed to get out of Arizona. While that particular trade didn’t net positive results for the Falcons or Cardinals, that’s the exact kind of trade we are going to be talking about here.

NFL Nation had each team’s beat writer suggest one player in need of a change of scenery this offseason, some of which could be on the Falcons’ radar.

WR Jalin Hyatt, Giants

The Falcons might not look like they need a wide receiver, and while it’s further down the list, it’s still on there. Hyatt finished the 2024 campaign with just eight catches for 62 yards, but he did average over 16 yards per reception as a rookie. Hyatt has the kind of speed that the Falcons have been missing for quite some time. Atlanta would acquire Hyatt with two years left on his rookie deal at a modest base salary of about $1.2 million this year and $1.5 million next.

DB James Bradberry IV, Eagles

The 31-year-old fell out of favor in Philadelphia. He lost his starting job as a corner but proactively transitioned to safety to make the 53-man roster after the Eagles drafted Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. However, Bradberry injured his leg and spent the entire season on the injured reserve. Bradberry was an All-Pro not too long ago. Perhaps the Falcons will take a flyer on him and his $2.1 million base salary to carve out a role somewhere in Atlanta’s secondary.

DT Jonathan Allen, Commanders

The Commanders have already granted Allen permission to seek a trade, and the Falcons make a lot of sense. The former first-round pick missed nine games this past season, but in the previous six years, Allen only missed a total of three games.

He still finished with three sacks, three tackles for loss and seven QB hits while only playing about half of last year. A trade for Allen would probably follow or precede the Falcons cutting David Onyemata. Allen has a $15.5 million base salary, which is less than Onyemata’s nearly $17 million cap hit in 2025.

CB Jaire Alexander, Packers

The two-time All-Pro cornerback is one of the league’s best cover men in football, but he’s struggled to stay on the field the past two seasons, missing 14 total games. If the Packers don’t want to just cut Alexander, the Falcons could see him as a potential fit opposite of A.J. Terrell. He’s under contract through 2026 with a base salary of $16.15 million in 2025 and $18.15 million next year. That’s a bargain if Alexander, who is still only 28 years old, is playing like he was in 2022.
