Yesterday, the Braves lost a critical piece of their organization in Dan Meyer, who the Pirates hired to be their AAA pitching coach.
2021 Double-A South Manager of the Year, and pitching coach, Dan Meyer was named pitching coach for Triple-A Indianapolis (PIT) in 2022.
D-My did an incredible job last season in Mississippi. I’ll miss having him around, but wish him nothing but the best! pic.twitter.com/5sL9le5zBM

Dan Meyer began last season as the pitching coach for the Mississippi Braves before serving as the interim manager and leading the Braves to a Southern League championship. As a result, he also won the Southern League Manager of the Year award.
It’s a significant loss, but one that should be applauded. Just like players in the minors, coaches are looking to move up in the ranks in an attempt to play a role on a major-league team eventually. With the Braves having pitching coaches in place in Gwinnett and Atlanta, a promotion within the organization likely wouldn’t happen for Meyer. Now, he gets one step closer to the bigs, and he should have the opportunity to work with some talented young arms as they continue their rebuild.
