While Arthur Smith was relieved of his duties, the rest of the Falcons coaching staff has been kept in limbo.
The club has consistently blocked other teams from interviewing coaches, including defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford, and special teams coach Marquice Williams.
Well, that may not be the case any longer. According to Ian Rapoport, the Patriots have requested to interview Williams for Jarod Mayo’s new staff, but we haven’t heard of any intentions of the Falcons to block the request.

I wouldn’t read too much into this as some fans form conspiracies connecting the Falcons to Bill Belichick.
I would encourage fans to realize blocking coaches from interviewing for other jobs is a good thing. Some might tell you it’s not the proper way to conduct business, but I’m not one of them.
The Falcons’ new head coach is going to hire a staff, and candidates that could interest the prospective head coach might already be snatched up by other organizations. In this situation, whoever the Falcons hire will be able to retain Ryan Nielsen, Dwayne Ledford, etc. if he so chooses.
It’s not a bad way to operate; in fact, it’s good business if your interest is the Atlanta Falcons being a good football team.
