Patrick Mahomes praises Falcons following Sunday Night Football

NFL: SEP 22 Chiefs at Falcons

There are no moral victories in the NFL, but if there ever were one, the Falcons’ loss to the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football was it.

Atlanta proved a lot against Kansas City, with the main takeaway being that this club can compete with anyone. Of course, there are things that need to be corrected and improved, especially in the red zone and on third downs. However, the Falcons proved they can compete with the Eagles, Chiefs, and every other contender in the NFL.

Patrick Mahomes praised his opponents in the post-game press conference, telling members of the media that the Falcons are going to make a lot of noise as the season goes on.

Mahomes finished with 217 yards passing on 26 of 39 attempts, with two touchdowns and an interception. The Falcons’ defense gave the Chiefs all they could handle, but Kansas City grinded out that victory, dominating the second half time of possession and finishing with a 10-minute advantage, 34:57 to 25:03.

Patrick Mahomes is the typical quarterback that praises his opponents in victory and defeat, similar to Tom Brady, but this isn’t some hollow or backhanded compliment from the GOAT. Mahomes is genuinely giving the Falcons praise.

They deserve it too. They’re clearly talented enough to compete, but the situational football and self-inflicted mistakes have to be cleaned up if they want to end their six-year postseason drought.
