The Falcons have won five of their last six and look like a club that can actually make some noise in the postseason.
Atlanta is off to a 6-3 start, which is the franchise’s best start since 2016, and much of their success is tied to their $180 million quarterback. Kirk Cousins has been a revelation compared to what the Falcons have had at the position since Matt Ryan.
Cousins has thrown 17 touchdowns through Week 9, which is as many as Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke threw all of last season. The veteran signal caller ranks fourth in the league in passing yards (2,328), fourth in touchdowns (17), ninth in completion percentage (69.2%), and ninth in passer rating (101.9)
It’s now time to have a conversation about the Falcons being serious contenders, and Pat McAfee is starting it.

Other than winning football games, Kirk Cousins’ impact has helped the Falcons’ Big 3 realize their full potential.
Bijan Robinson looks like one of the best running backs in the league. Drake London is squarely among the top 10 receivers, and Kyle Pitts has finally started to find some consistent production. The investment in Darnell Mooney is paying dividends as well, giving the Falcons arguably the best wideout duo in the NFL, all because of Kirk Cousins.
Pat McAfee is right: the Atlanta Falcons are the real deal, and Kirk Cousins wins games. There’s a lot to be excited about in Atlanta.
