The Falcons overcame what seemed like an insurmountable deficit last night over the Eagles on Monday Night Football. With less than two minutes remaining in the game, Philly looked like they were going to ice the game. Fortunately, a Saquon Barkley drop stopped the clock.
Kirk Cousins took over with 1:39 left and drove Atlanta’s offense 70 yards down the field, completing 5-of-6 passes, including the game-winner to Drake London. It was an improbable win that the Falcons rarely come out on the right side of.
Typically, Atlanta would’ve been on the receiving end of something like this, but not this time. Raheem Morris said he was going to breathe life into the Falcons organization, and he was correct. The fan base hasn’t been this high in years.
But earlier in the game, a familiar foe tried to dampen the mood of Falcons fans. Bill Belichick, on his regular appearance on Monday Night Football ManningCast, recounted Super Bowl LI in which the Patriots overcame a 28-3 deficit to beat the Falcons, taking a shot at Arthur Blank in the process.

"I remember, [Arthur] Blank down on the sideline in the fourth quarter, celebrating when they were ahead… He's a pretty good dresser. Arthur always looks sharp, but he was… pic.twitter.com/KR08Apxw3p

“I also remember Blank down on the sideline in the fourth quarter celebrating when they were ahead,” Belichick said about Blank’s premature celebration, “He’s a pretty good dresser now. Arthur’s always looked sharp, but you know he was down there on the sideline and you know we were getting beat and I’m like ‘Jesus,’ but anyway…”
The Falcons will never heal from that loss until they win a Super Bowl of their own, but Belichick, Tom Brady, or the Devil himself can’t ruin the vibes in Atlanta today.
