We’ve seen the coronavirus spread its impact across all facets of life, including sports. The NFL has been lucky that all of this has taken place during the offseason, but it will undoubtedly alter several things for the upcoming season. We’ve already seen the league’s first virtual draft, and now, there will be no NFL games played overseas in 2020, as the league announced they are canceling their annual international series.

As a result, the Falcons will not be playing in London against the Denver Broncos, and the team released a separate statement regarding the news.

While this is unfortunate for fans of the two teams overseas, it should be viewed as a positive to many of the Falcons faithful. The game in London was considered a home contest for Atlanta. Now, they will have their full slate of eight games at Mercedez-Benz Stadium. For season ticket holders, that’s a considerable plus. And for the team, it gives them more of an advantage over the Broncos, which could be the difference between a win or a loss. In the challenging NFC, one extra win could be what puts the Falcons into the playoff picture. It’s an unfortunate circumstance for the league, but as far as Atlanta is concerned, they should be pleased.
