As it stands today, the Falcons have a top 10 selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, thanks to the team’s most recent loss to the Steelers. Usually, this is Jake’s area of expertise, but I’m taking over this week. With the new regime’s third top-10 pick in as many years, I’m going in a different direction following two pass catchers taken in back-to-back drafts. Below are Jake’s other Falcons Mock Drafts.
- Falcons: 2023 Mock Draft Monday 1.0 (3 Rounds)
- Falcons: 2023 Mock Draft Monday 2.0 (3 Rounds)
- Falcons: 2023 Mock Draft Monday 3.0 (3 Rounds)
- Falcons: 2023 Mock Draft Monday 4.0 (3 Rounds)
- Falcons: 2023 Mock Draft Monday 5.0 (3 Rounds)
Round 1, Pick 10: DT Bryan Bresee — Clemson
Despite the down year for Clemson and Bresee, he’s still an imposing player. He was an All-American his freshman season but missed most of the 2021 campaign with an ACL injury. The young man also tragically lost his younger sister, Ella, earlier this season. The production might have dipped this year, but he’d be the most talented defender Grady Jarrett has played next to in his career.
Round 2, Pick 42: TE Darnell Washington — Georiga
Another athletic freak is Darnell Washington. I’m willing to bet the Falcons will be very high on the 6-foot-7, 275-pound UGA product. He’s an excellent blocker, reminiscent of Marcedes Lewis, and is essentially a sixth offensive lineman. Despite the lack of production, his hands are reliable. The Falcons, a run-heavy offense, would benefit tremendously from a tight end duo of Washington and Kyle Pitts.
Round 3, Pick 73: EDGE Andre Carter II — Army
Carter hasn’t officially declared for the draft, but he’s another prospect that is a physical marvel, and that’s why a team will select him. He has long arms at 33 3/4 inches and plays with a relentless motor, which are two characteristics the Falcons have focused on in the past. Ta’Quon Graham and Ade Ogundeji both possess upper percentile wingspans.
