In an interview with Good Morning Football, Tom Pelissero dropped six names that he could see getting a lot of interviews in the coming weeks for head coaching positions, and two former Falcons head coaches made the list:
With HC interviews set to start soon, a good emptying notebook convo on @GMFB with @TomPelissero … The 6 names we mentioned:
Packers OC Nathaniel Hackett
Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon
Bills DC Leslie Frazier
Rams DC Raheem Morris
Bengals OC Brian Callahan
Cowboys DC Dan Quinn— Peter Schrager (@PSchrags) December 27, 2021
Raheem Morris was Atlanta’s head coach on an interim basis, but he did a good job of turning around a team that started 0-5 with a handful of embarrassing losses. Morris had a historically bad Falcons defense playing pretty well to end the season, and Atlanta managed to finish 4-7 in games he served as the head coach.
This year, the Rams are fourth in DVOA and just clinched a playoff spot. With the way that Morris managed to turn around the Falcons and how well this Rams defense looks, I expect him to get a few interviews. Last coaching cycle, Morris was interviewed by the Falcons for their head coaching job, and the Jaguars expressed interest in bringing him on in some capacity as well.
Dan Quinn is in his first season back as a defensive coordinator, and he has helped make Dallas a serious Super Bowl contender. The Cowboys rank second in DVOA, and Quinn is known for being a players first coach that can inspire some good football. His in game meltdowns have been well documented, but he has been to a Super Bowl. We all know what Quinn can do with the right pieces in place. I wouldn’t be shocked to see his old team in Seattle give him a call if Pete Carroll moves on.
