Former Falcons head coach Dan Quinn is finally back in the driver’s seat after three seasons as the Cowboys defensive coordinator.
Quinn was hired to take over for Ron Rivera in Washington, joining Adam Peters and a new ownership group for the Commanders. Armed with a mountain of cap space, the No. 2 overall pick, and a decent roster, Quinn and Peters have the means to build a true contender.
Whether they prefer Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye doesn’t matter, the former Falcons’ head coach is leaning on his past relationships to fill out the roster. Dorance Armstrong comes over from Dallas, and an old friend did the same.
Dante Fowler signed with the Falcons ahead of the 2020 campaign, a season that Quinn only lasted a few games. Fowler ended up staying on with the new regime but only for the 2021 season.
The Falcons parted ways with him ahead of the 2022 season, where he followed his former head coach to Dallas, joining the Cowboys for the next two seasons. Now, he’ll follow Quinn to Washington, according to Nicki Jhabvala.
Former Cowboys DE Dante Fowler Jr. agreed to terms with the Commanders, per source.
Fowler is the third ex-Cowboy to reunite with Dan Quinn in Washington.

Fowler had 10 sacks the past two seasons combined in Dallas and will provide help as a rotational pass rusher in Washington. There’s minimal risk in it for the Commanders. Expect Dan Quinn to continue to lean on his relationships with the Seahawks, Falcons, and Cowboys as the Commanders fill out their roster.
