Hate him or love him, you can’t say Mike Florio isn’t funny.
The Vikings superfan has recently been on a tirade about the Falcons tampering with Kirk Cousins, and it’s gotten to the point of conspiracy theories. He’s been quite outspoken about what he’s called “the most blatant case of tampering” he’s ever seen.
Most recently, Florio floated the idea that the Vikings could receive the Falcons’ No. 8 overall pick while Atlanta takes Minnesota’s No. 11 pick as a form of punishment.
“Or maybe the Vikings are quietly holding out hope that the end result of the investigation regarding Atlanta’s blatant tampering with Cousins (and it was blatant, frankly) will result in a flip-flop of picks No. 8 and No. 11. (There’s no specific reason to think that will happen, but it’s not impossible that the league would select this sanction — and announce it literally five minutes before the draft starts.)”
The disclaimer may be the funniest part of this. He knows what he’s saying is insane, but there’s no doubt that the Falcons and Kirk Cousins were clearly in contact before the legal tampering period.
“There’s great people here,” Cousins said. “And it’s not just the football team. I mean, I’m looking at the support staff. Meeting, calling, yesterday, calling our head athletic trainer, talking to our head of P.R. I’m thinking, we got good people here. And that’s exciting to be a part of.”
It’s also clearly not bad enough for the Vikings and Falcons to swap first round picks as punishment. The NFL is still investigating the situation, but I feel confident the punishment will pale in comparison to this insane theory from Mike Florio.
