Michael Penix Jr. or Kirk Cousins? Who should the Falcons start and why do you think that?
For me, it’s about tomorrow, not today. The decision should be about the greater good. From where I sit, it seems Arthur Blank is more interested in winning the worst division in football en route to a first-round exit than he is in actually doing what’s necessary to build a legitimate contender.
Most arguments surround the conversation of whether Penix or Cousins gives the Falcons the best chance to win right now, with the playoffs still up for grabs. Raheem Morris has seen more of these two quarterbacks throw than any other single person, so if he believes Cousins gives the Falcons a better chance to win, who are we to argue?
Well, I just want to point out how ridiculous this entire situation has become, especially considering who the Falcons are as an organization. They made the insane decision to sign Kirk Cousins and draft Michael Penix Jr. while boldly referencing the Packers’ blueprint.
It rightfully brought criticism, but that kind of incompetence is surfacing once again. The quarterback debate rages on in the media and among fans; however, it isn’t in Flowery Branch. The Falcons are fully behind Kirk Cousins.
What makes it especially interesting is the report that surfaced before the Vikings game from The Athletic’s Jeff Howe that “Penix has been lighting it up in practice.”
If Penix is lighting it up in practice, a report that undoubtedly came from within Flowery Branch, wouldn’t that encourage the Falcons to turn to the rookie? Regardless if it’s true or not, it’s more amateurishness from Atlanta.
They’re leaking information about Penix to the media while touting Cousins as the undoubted starter. That’s hilarious stuff coming from this organization, who continue to prove their utter incompetence.
