Despite a weekend to forget, the Braves still have a fantastic opportunity to chase down the Phillies with the way Philadelphia has been playing since the All-Star break. They lost again last night, as Atlanta now sits 5.5 games back in the NL East as they open up a series with the Brewers. On top of that, the team announced Michael Harris is beginning his rehab assignment tonight with Gwinnett.

Michael Harris is eligible to come off the IL on August 14th. This gives him over a week to get back in a groove in the minors, and providing there are no setbacks, I don’t imagine the Braves will wait a day longer to activate him. He could rejoin the team out West next week, as the Braves travel to Colorado, San Francisco, and Los Angeles to take on the Angels.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on Michael Harris’ performance in Gwinnett, but this is undoubtedly the most positive development of the second half thus far.
