Despite losing a tough game to the Marlins yesterday, Braves fans can take some solace in the fact that Max Fried is back on the mound Sunday, hoping to lead the Braves to a 3-1 series win over the Marlins. The Braves officially reinstated him from the IL; in a corresponding move, Dylan Lee has been optioned to Gwinnett.
The #Braves today reinstated LHP Max Fried from the injured list after optioning LHP Dylan Lee to Triple-A Gwinnett following last night’s game.

Lee is the only reliever with options remaining, but the bigger question is if the Braves decide to give Reynaldo Lopez an IL stint. A scary moment last week led to the first time All-Star leaving a start against the Mets after just three innings. He immediately flew to Atlanta for further tests, but the MRI came back clean, and he’s already feeling much better.
Brian Snitker even said Lopez may not need to go on the IL. However, it does seem like some extra rest makes more sense for a guy who hasn’t thrown more than 66.0 innings in a season since the 2019 campaign. The Braves don’t have a lot of room for error in the division, trailing the Phillies by 5.0 games with just over 50 games remaining. However, the top priority for Brian Snitker’s squad should be getting this pitching staff to full strength ahead of the stretch run and into October. Lopez missing a start of two will not define the Braves 2024 campaign.
