Matt Ryan returned to Flowery Branch last Friday for the first time since the Falcons traded him to the Colts.
It’s no surprise he’s back around the team. He speaks very fondly of the organization, even though they wronged him. Just last week, Arthur Blank welcomed him back with open arms.
Ryan will be in a different role in 2023, assuming a position in the broadcast booth with CBS after appearing on the network’s pregame show last year. However, the greatest quarterback in franchise history recently left the door open to a return to the Falcons in some capacity, according to Josh Kendall of The Athletic.
“Ryan said he would consider a position in the Falcons organization at some point in the future, and Blank, who last week referred to Ryan as his “seventh child” made clear last week that he would welcome Ryan back in some capacity whenever the timing works out,” Kendall wrote.
Moreover, very predictably, Matt Ryan offered a helping hand to possibly the next franchise quarterback — Desmond Ridder.
During his visit to Flowery Branch last week, Matt Ryan told Desmond Ridder "I'm here for you if you need me. Anything you need, don't hesitate to reach out."

The Falcons don’t retire players’ numbers, but Arthur Smith told the media earlier this week that no quarterback will wear Ryan’s #2. It’s only a matter of time before he’s inducted into the team’s ring of honor.
He spent 14 seasons in Atlanta and holds every major passing record for the club. He immediately stabilized a franchise in free fall following the disastrous exits of Michael Vick and Bobby Petrino.
I believe Matt Ryan will be successful in whatever area he chooses, in the booth or within the Falcons organization.
