Norcross Police arrested Ozuna and booked him into the Gwinnett County Jail at 4:39 a.m. This comes after he was infamously arrested last year for domestic violence and charged with felony assault. Combine those problematic off-the-field issues with his poor production this season, and Ozuna’s fate is likely sealed. He’s hitting a measly .214 while striking out at an obscene rate with an unsightly .656 OPS. And he was just sat for his fourth-straight game.
If the Braves could’ve done it after his first arrest, the club would’ve DFA Ozuna; however, financially, it just wasn’t really feasible. Now, they’ll likely have no choice but to eat his contract and move on from the situation. Alex Anthopoulos traded for Robbie Grossman, who is surging since landing in Atlanta and will likely be taking most of Ozuna’s at-bats.
