Whether they’re tasteless jabs on social media or cheesy one-liners from a broadcast booth, Falcons fans can’t get away from Super Bowl LI jokes. Well, I have bad news for you; there’s a movie being made on that fateful event.
Tom Brady hasn’t been retired for a month now, and he’s already making moves in his post-football career. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is set to produce and appear in a film titled ’80 for Brady,” which is a comedy about four friends road-tripping to Houston, Texas. Though Brady has a part in the movie, the stars are pretty legendary: Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, Sally Field, and Lily Tomlin.
Here’s a rundown of the plot, via The Hollywood Reporter:
Inspired by a true story, Brady tells of four best friends and New England Patriots fans who take a life-changing trip to the 2017 Super Bowl LI to see their quarterback hero, Tom Brady, play and the chaos that ensues as they navigate the wilds of the biggest sporting event in the country. Tomlin, Fonda, Moreno and Field will play the quartet.
Brady’s production company, 199 Productions, will produce the film. A clever nod at his draft position being the 199th player selected in the 2000 NFL draft.
Falcons fans just can’t get away from this man or that game. It is the infamous 28-3 comeback as the Patriots defeated the Falcons 34-28 in overtime. Brady is reportedly “deeply involved” in the film since its inception, so I imagine there will be subtle and not-so-subtle jabs at the Falcons.
Sure, it might be fantastic for New England fans to relive the glorious story, but Falcons fans couldn’t be more exhausted with content regarding the Super Bowl. As an unbias party in this, I can admit it feels like they’re beating a dead horse; however, this is Hollywood’s dream. A comeback like this is literally a movie, so it’s pretty hilarious Falcons fans are going to have to sit through all the reviews and talk of Brady’s latest venture.
