The Lamar Jackson saga had an intriguing twist yesterday when the MVP quarterback took to Twitter to let the public know that he officially requested a trade back on March 2nd. The Ravens have continually stated they plan on Jackson being their starting quarterback next season, but this is reaching a boiling point, and I’m no longer sure the two sides will be able to come together in negotiations.
With most of free agency over and the draft set to take place in a month, it doesn’t look like Jackson will have many suitors. The Falcons said weeks ago they wouldn’t be pursuing him, but if his time in Baltimore is truly coming to an end, might they reconsider?
Adding Jackson is still possible for Atlanta. Even after all the money they’ve spent this offseason, they could maneuver around the salary cap to make it work. On the latest episode of SportsTalkATL, we discuss why the Falcons haven’t been more involved in the Lamar Jackson sweepstakes, and whether they could change their tone before it is too late.
