The Falcons and Lions are set to square off in what looks to be one of the more exciting matchups of Week 3.
For the first time since 2017, Atlanta is 2-0, but Detroit poses the biggest threat to Atlanta’s new-look defense that they’ve seen thus far. Jared Goff has proven himself as a top-10 quarterback, the Lions offensive line is one of the more underrated units in the league, and their skill position group is by far the best the Falcons have faced this season, given the Packers injuries to Aaron Jones and Christian Watson. It will be a good test for Atlanta’s defense that has looked like a top-ten unit in the league through two weeks.
Offensively, however, the Falcons have the personnel to make the Lions’ afternoon a nightmare, especially since they will be missing several key pieces. The Falcons have shown they can move the ball on everyone on the ground, but this could be the week where Desmond Ridder shows he might just be the next franchise quarterback in Atlanta.
The Lions defense was exploited time and time again last week against the Seahawks, and Ridder is coming off the best quarter of his career, leading the Falcons back from the dead in the fourth against the Packers. That should give the second-year QB some confidence heading into Detroit, setting up for a potential career day for Ridder.
