Julio Jones didn’t hold out this year, and last Tuesday, he said that was because Arthur Blank assured him an extension would get done. When the boss talks, Jones has learned to take him seriously.
Jeff Schultz of the Athletic reported back in April that the Falcons and their star wide receiver were not far apart on a deal, and that it could be done in the next few weeks. Nothing has happened yet, but ESPN’s Dianna Russini reports that Atlanta is confident in an extension happening before training camp begins on July 22nd.
Sources with the Atlanta Falcons are confident that they will agree to a long term contract extension with Julio Jones before training camp. Jones has 2 years remaining on his current contract.

Whenever it happens, the extension will rightfully make Jones the highest-paid receiver in the league. The future Hall-of-Famer became the fastest receiver to 10,000 yards in 2018 and is the only one to catch for over 1,400 yards in five straight seasons – an ongoing streak.
