John Collins will have a legitimate gripe if he is not named to the Eastern Conference All-Star Team this year, but he will be participating in at least one event during All-Star weekend. This according to Oliver Maroney, who says John Collins and Derrick Jones Jr. are expected to be in this year’s Slam-Dunk Contest.
Being told that John Collins and Derrick Jones Jr are also expected to be in the 2019 NBA All Star Dunk Contest, per sources. Adding to Miles Bridges (@ChrisBHaynes first to report Bridges).https://t.co/dbfoN5vQeL

Collins will become the first Hawk to compete since Josh Smith back in 2006. Smith won the contest in 2005, joining Dominique Wilkins and Spud Webb as the other Hawks players to take home the trophy. Wilkins was the only one to do it twice (1985, 1990).
Per Chris Haynes, rookie Miles Bridges will be in the competition as well.
Charlotte Hornets rookie Miles Bridges plans to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest at All Star Weekend, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
