The Falcons signed reigning USFL Defensive Player of the Year Frank Ginda over the weekend, which was quickly followed by news the club is waiving Mykal Walker.
It was a shocking move because the linebacker position was one of the thinner groups on the roster. Tae Davis, Nate Landman, and Mike Jones Jr. have virtually no experience and are primarily special teams contributors. Nevertheless, the Falcons clearly didn’t see it that way, parting ways with Walker.
In the wake of Walker’s departure, Jessie Bates III snatched his #3 quickly after, showing up to Monday’s practice with the number after the Falcons announced the move on Sunday.

It’s a cold, cruel world in the NFL.
After wearing #30 in Cincinnati since the Bengals drafted him, Bates chose #31 when he signed with the Falcons. Now, he gets what he truly wanted in the first place — #3.
I’m not one to fawn over jersey numbers, but I know some that will, which is why I am writing this. If you’re into this sort of thing, I’m sure you’re ecstatic to see Jessie Bates rock the single digit look.
