Jeff Okudah made his Falcons debut against his former team in Detroit last Sunday, but the former third overall pick played sparingly.
As he works back from an ankle injury, the expectation is that he will steadily increase his snap count. Falcons coach Arthur Smith said Okudah’s snaps will increase against the Jaguars.
However, according to Tori McElhaney, Okudah took the first-team reps opposite A.J. Terrell during practice on Friday. Though he mainly played on third downs, it seems there’s an outside chance that Okudah gets his first start since joining the Falcons.
Atlanta’s defense has been one of the best units in football, ranking near the top of the league in pressure rate, points allowed, and yards allowed. Adding Jeff Okudah to that instead of Tre Flowers should only benefit the defense.
