The Falcons shocked much of their fan base when they decided to re-hire Raheem Morris to be their next head coach. Morris coached for the team from 2015-2020, including a stint as the interim head coach over the final 11 games of the 2020 season after Dan Quinn was fired.
I thought it was a long shot that Arthur Blank and Rich McKay admitted they made a mistake three years ago when they passed over Morris in favor of Arthur Smith, but something magical must have taken place in those interviews.
Whether you like it or not, though, Morris is now the guy in Atlanta, and fans should give him a fair shake. He’s well liked across the league by both coaches and players. Most notably, All-Pro corner Jalen Ramsey is really fond of the Falcons hire.
Falcons got one of, if not the best coach in the NFL forreal! https://t.co/p24Q6U8aJv

Ramsey, a future Hall of Famer, played under Morris in Los Angeles, making two Pro Bowls and winning a Super Bowl. Even before the hire, he made it known that he would love to play for Morris again.
Won’t be any tampering issues but 100% I know MANY players including myself who would love to play on whatever team Rah is the coach of! That won’t necessarily be the reality, but would definitely love that lol
Don’t read too much into this lol… I’m jus saying Rah is the best! https://t.co/Q0SxRzsR7y

This is by far the most attractive aspect of Morris coming to Atlanta. He should be able to bring in an outstanding staff along with high-quality free agents who are eager to work with him. But the Falcons have had player coaches before. Both Dan Quinn and Arthur Smith were well-liked in the locker room, and there’s a reason they are no longer with the organization.
What’s next is a tall task, starting with figuring out the quarterback position, but Raheem Morris has loads of experience and is clearly confident he can lead the turnaround in Atlanta.
