Younghoe Koo might be the best kicker in Falcons history. Following his career-long 58-yard, game-winning field goal against the Saints, it might be time to start a conversation that Koo is better than Matt Bryant.
When looking at the overall body of work, it’s hard to argue.
Bryant made 87.5% of his field goal attempts with the Falcons, including 73% of attempts from more than 50 yards and 84% between 40-49 yards. Compared to Koo’s 90.4% rate on all field goal attempts, including 76% from 50+ and 85% from 40-49 yards.
On average, during their respective Falcons careers, Koo averages 8.0 points per game, compared to Bryant’s 7.9 points. Both have a Pro Bowl appereance as well.
According to the Associated Press, Koo’s game-winning kick yesterday was his eighth game-winning kick in the final 10 seconds since the beginning of the 2021 season, which is the most in the league during that span.
It might not even be an argument any more at this point in Younghoe Koo’s career; he’s the best Falcons kicker in franchise history.
