If Warren Sapp’s comments are true, should the Falcons pull the trigger on a Justin Fields trade?

Rumors are rumors, but that’s what the offseason is all about. Hall of Famer Warren Sapp dropped a huge bomb late last week, saying the Bears are looking to trade Justin Fields and select Alabama quarterback Bryce Young:

Now, before we get too ahead of ourselves, media out of Chicago is denying this rumor is true. However, let’s play around with the scenario just in case. The Bears would undoubtedly ask for an arm and a leg for Justin Fields. Understandably so, Fields made massive strides with the Bears this year, and the Georgia native proved he can be a franchise quarterback.

As dynamic as Fields is as a runner, he made strides as a passer as well. He also seems to fit what Arthur Smith likes to do with his offense:

Fields is still developing, but there’s enough there to believe he’s a franchise quarterback. If he is available, I think he’s very worthy of a trade. In my final mock draft in 2021, I advocated for Fields over Kyle Pitts, but the Falcons may have an opportunity to right their wrongs and get a true franchise quarterback in Atlanta, bringing some energy to this fanbase.

Fields would cost less than someone like Lamar Jackson, as Fields is on a rookie deal, which would allow Atlanta to continue building the team through free agency. You have to think he would cost less in terms of draft picks as well. It’s worth giving Bears GM Ryan Poles a call.
