The Falcons end their regular season at home against the Panthers, who have played much better of late but enter the contest dealing with a multitude of injuries. However, the Falcons will also be without some key pieces, and there’s a few new names that have been added to the injury report.
According to Josh Kendall of The Athletic, wide receiver Darnell Mooney is questionable for Sunday’s series finale against Carolina, along with rookies Brandon Dorlus and JD Bertrand.
Mooney is just eight yards shy of his second career 1,000-yard receiving season. So beyond the fact that he’s a critical piece of what Atlanta wants to do on offense, there are surely some personal reasons he’d like to suit up on Sunday if at all possible.
Brandon Dorlus has been inactive for practically every game this season, but JD Bertrand has been getting some run over the last few weeks with Troy Andersen going down for the season. The rookie out of Notre Dame has taken his lumps but really made an impact in the game against the Commanders with some timely blitzes.
A win on Sunday would keep the Falcons playoff hopes alive; however, they’ll need a miracle to happen in Tampa Bay. The Bucs are two touchdown favorites over New Orleans, who will be trotting out Spencer Rattler under center. With a win, the Bucs will clinch the NFC South for the fourth consecutive season.
