The Braves finally announced their Game 3 starter for tonight, as Bryce Elder will toe the rubber in about four hours against the Phillies. The last time Elder faced the Phillies, they got the best of him to the tune of four earned runs over 3.2 innings. However, a lot of the damage was his own doing, as he walked five batters and only gave up three hits.
Let’s take a look at how some individual players in the Phillies lineup have fared against Bryce Elder.

As you can see, there is not a lot of history here. Elder has only faced the Phillies twice, and no player has more than five at-bats against him. Brandon Marsh has the best batting average against Elder, but the killer has been Nick Castellanos, who has the only two homers against him in just five at-bats. That’s a matchup to watch tonight.
The good news? Elder has yet to allow a hit to Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, J.T Realmuto, and Bryson Stott. However, as we know, things will be different with the stage set in Philadelphia in October.
