The Falcons have been one of the busiest teams this offseason, filling numerous holes on defense and adding to the offense as well. Most recently, they signed Kaleb McGary to a very team-friendly three-year contract worth $34.5 million. That surprised many. He was one of the best tackles on the market, and even the Falcons thought he was a long shot to return. However, his market ended up being much cooler than expected, which allowed Atlanta to bring him back at a bargain.
McGary may be the best deal the Falcons have signed to this point, but the entire free agency period has to go down as a win for this team. There are still holes to be patched up, but most of the major ones have been filled. That will allow them to select the best players available going into the draft. They won’t have to reach for needs at any point.
On the latest episode of SportsTalkATL, Chase Irle, Alex Lord, and Jake Gordon discuss the decision to bring back Kaleb McGary, and how it affects the Falcons draft strategy going into next month.
