For the first time since 2022, the Falcons will play in primetime on Monday Night Football against the Eagles in their home opener.
Atlanta will play in three other primetime slots, including next week’s Sunday Night Football contest against the Chiefs in Mercedes Benz Stadium. The other two are Thursday Night Football against the Buccaneers in Week 5 and the Raiders on MNF in Week 14.
The last time the Falcons were in a primetime game, it was a cold, rainy night in Charlotte. If you don’t remember, let me jog your memory.
Still can't believe this play actually happened.
How are you a professional QB doing something like this? pic.twitter.com/uU4lz5G5jV

Marcus Mariota embarrassed himself and the Falcons on national television, even if it wasn’t an interception and he was ruled down by contact. It was a low point in the season, but it can’t get worse… right?
Well, the Falcons will travel to Lincoln Financial Field to take on the Eagles. Hopefully, they’re better than that, but I’ve learned never to assume this team won’t embarrass themselves. Every time they set a new low, they find a way to make everyone laugh at them.
The Falcons haven’t played on MNF since 2020, when they lost to the Packers; in fact, Atlanta is the only winless team in primetime games since 2021, and Kirk Cousins owns a 12-19 record in such games.
The Falcons don’t exactly have the track record that fans can buy into either. We have a new-look team that fell flat on their face against the Steelers in Week 1, with Kirk Cousins and Zac Robinson going M.I.A in the second half.
I hope there isn’t another viral meme because of the Falcons’ incompetence, but would anyone be surprised if there was one?
