Earlier this week, the Braves announced a promotion to AA Mississippi for one of their more exciting pitching prospects Rolddy Muñoz.
ROSTER MOVE: RHP Rolddy Muñoz has been promoted to our roster from High-A @GoEmperors.
Muñoz was 1-1 with a 5.23 ERA in Rome, with 4 walks and 19 strikeouts in 7 games.

If the name sounds familiar, it’s because his brother, Roddy Muñoz, also came up through the Braves farm system before being designated for assignment last season. Roddy never pitched in a major-league game for the Braves, but the hope is that his brother can have some better success with the organization.
A 24-year-old prospect with a 5.23 ERA in High-A isn’t typically one that would be worth writing about. However, the surface level numbers don’t do Muñoz justice. He striking out 16.5 batters per nine innings with a 1.065 WHIP, 2.59 FIP, and 2.08 xFIP, pumping easy gas in the high-90s.
Muñoz appears to be making the transition into a full-time relief role and is a guy to keep an eye on in the near future. Going from High-A to AA is always a significant challenge, but if he proves to be up to the task, he’s someone the Braves won’t hesitate to move through the system quickly.
