The Hawks are 5-0 under Nate McMillan, right back in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race, and they may be getting even more firepower later this week. On 92.9 The Game this morning, general manager Travis Schlenk said that De’Andre Hunter could be ready to return to the court as early as Thursday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Hunter was amid a breakout sophomore campaign before some wear and tear on his knee forced him out of a late January game against the Wizards. He chose to have a minor surgery and has not played since. If he returns on Thursday, he will have missed about six weeks of action, but luckily, the Hawks have been able to right the ship and are just a couple of games out of the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference.
The former Virginia Cavalier is averaging over 17 points a game on 51.6% shooting from the field and 36.6% from the three-point line. He’s also the Hawks best perimeter defender, especially with Cam Reddish also sidelined with an injury. His presence adds an entirely different element to the team, and makes Atlanta a legitimate threat to not only make the playoffs but also potentially upset someone once they get there.
