In a crushing defeat at the hands of the Knicks on Wednesday night, star point guard Trae Young went down in excruciating pain while grabbing at his ankle. He couldn’t put any weight on it as he exited to the locker room and was quickly announced out for the game.
This late in the season, any injury is significant, even relatively minor ones. However, by the results of the X-Rays, which came back negative, and the reaction from Trae Young himself, it looks like the Hawks avoided catastrophe. Here’s what Young tweeted shortly after the game.

Clint Capela also offered a bit more insight on the situation, via The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner.
Clint Capela on Trae Young's spirits: "He told me it wasn't as bad as he thought. He was pretty good."

Young will have an MRI tomorrow, and we will know more after that. I wouldn’t expect him to be back on the floor for Friday’s game against the Heat, which is an extremely critical one, but hopefully, he can return within the next week or so.
