The Hawks offseason has begun, and it’s expected to be a tumultuous one headlined by rumors surrounding their two star guards, Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, the former of which announced yesterday that he has switched agencies.
When I say it, I really mean it..

Trae Young was previously represented by Rich Paul’s Klutch Sports, which is a primary reason why a lot of people constantly connect him to Lebron James and the Lakers, who have shown an interest in acquiring Young. I’m not sure the switch of agencies will affect those negotiations if they ever even take place, but it won’t stop people from speculating about what’s next.
The only thing this move really tells us is Young was unhappy with his representation and felt a switch was needed. But if we’re reading between the lines, which we like to do here, it could mean he’s got some tricks up his sleeve.
For the first time since he was drafted, Young expressed his dissatisfaction with the Hawks and their lack of postseason success after they were bounced in the play-in tournament. He maintained that he wants to win in Atlanta, but win is the keyword. That’s his primary focus, and if it can’t happen with the Hawks, he very well may look for an opportunity to force his way out.
At the very least, it sends a message to the Hawks. They have to find ways to make this team more competitive in the immediate future. If not, the writing is on the wall. Hawks fans have to come to grips that the Trae Young era in Atlanta could be coming to an end very soon, but that was always the case entering this offseason, no matter who is representing him.
