It has been clear as day that the Hawks are trying to get rid of Dennis Schroder. It appears they may be getting close to doing so.
Oklahoma City and Atlanta in trade talks, with Thunder targeting Dennis Schroder and Mike Muscala, per sources. Carmelo Anthony would go to Atlanta, with Hawks doing buyout. Atl looking to add asset to make Melo’s buyout a wash. Getting rid of Schroder is No. 1 priority.

Carmelo is a known ball-stopper, so it is good that the Hawks are not considering bringing him on board. This deal would make a lot of sense for Atlanta. They would be paying more for Carmelo’s salary this season, but he is on an expiring contract. Meanwhile, they are still on the hook to pay Dennis for the next three seasons.
This move would give the Hawks a ridiculous amount of cap space for next season, and getting future assets out of the deal would just be the icing on the cake.
Stay tuned.
