The Hawks are coming off one of their most exciting seasons in recent memory, and the focal point of the offseason was to re-sign do-it-all forward John Collins and extend their superstar in Trae Young to a supermax. Well, those two investments are paying off. Collins has been his usual efficient self, leading qualified players in offensive rating.

John The Baptist has been incredibly valuable to this team’s success, and there’s no better combination than him and Young in a pick-and-roll. Atlanta scores 1.14 points per PNR when Collins screens for Ice Trae, leading the 47 combinations with at least 150 PNRs. The Hawks electric point guard is having an incredible start to his 2021-2022 campaign and has been named the NBA’s Week 6 Player of the Week.

During that time, Young led the Hawks to a 3-1 record while averaging 31.1 points on 56.3% shooting from the field and 51.7% from beyond the arc, 8.5 assists, and 4.0 rebounds. Even more impressive is his 31 point and 10 assist performance against the Memphis Grizzlies in only 27 minutes.
The Hawks are currently 11-10 and tied for the 8th seed in the East, but Atlanta will need everything and more out of Young these next couple of weeks, with notable injuries to Bogdan Bogdanovic, De’Andre Hunter, and Cam Reddish.
