Vegas is rolling out their futures for the upcoming NBA season, and the Hawks have the sixth-best odds at winning the 2021-22 Eastern Conference Finals at 18-1 — behind the Nets (6/5), Bucks (17/4), 76ers (8/1), Heat (11/1), and Celtics (16/1).

The Celtics added Dennis Schroder, Enes Kanter, and Josh Richardson, while Kemba Walker, Tristan Thompson, and Evan Fournier departed Boston. That is essentially the same team that Brad Stevens coached last season, so I’m not too worried about this new-look Boston squad. The Heat added Kyle Lowry, P.J. Tucker, and Markieff Morris, while losing Goran Dragic, Precious Achiuwa, Trevor Ariza, Andre Iguodala, and Kendrick Nunn. Lowry is the most notable addition, but he’s quite past his prime and doesn’t move the needle for me.
The 76ers are still in the middle of this saga with Ben Simmons, so it is surprising to see Vegas put them this high. A trade could certainly net them another superstar or a bevy of first-round picks, and whichever way the eventual trade goes, it could severely alter Philadelphia’s championship odds.
I have no arguments with the Bucks and Nets, but the Hawks should be right behind them. However, as Atlanta fans, this is a fantastic opportunity to potentially make some money. BetOnline generated early odds for the 2022 NBA Championship during the Suns-Bucks Finals, and the Hawks have the 11th-best odds to take home the Larry O’Brien trophy — better than the Celtics, Mavericks, and Knicks.
