With the NBA trade deadline less than 48 hours away, the Hawks have been mentioned numerous times in talks regarding Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, CJ McCollum, Josh Hart, Derrick White, Jerami Grant, and even Goran Dragic.
A month ago, it seemed Atlanta was open for business; Travis Schlenk hinted that major moves could be made ahead of the trade deadline. At the time, he was dissatisfied with how the Hawks looked for much of the first half of the season.
Then Atlanta went on a seven-game win streak after trading Cam Reddish and returning several critical pieces to the lineup from injury, like De’Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic. Now, the Hawks are winners of eight of their last 11 games as the race for the playoffs heats up.
Atlanta looked to be in a much different spot a month ago as they do presently, and Travis Schlenk’s statements to the media reflect those differences. On 92.9 The Game Tuesday morning, the Hawks general manager stated that the phones have been ringing off the hook; however, he also said they would be satisfied standing pat as the trade deadline approaches.
Schlenk: “We’ll continue to talk to other teams and see if there’s something out there that makes sense for us. As we sit here today, I don’t see that. But you never know what will happen in the next 48 hours.” https://t.co/jhUCfUrmcN
