It’s no surprise, but leading up to the 2022 NBA Draft, rumors about the Hawks are swirling. There are reports that the Timberwolves have called about Clint Capela, and that the Hawks are interested in Portland’s 7th overall selection. Now, it’s being reported that the Chicago Bulls are interested in adding John Collins:

The Hawks and Bulls could be intriguing trade partners. Chicago owns the 18th pick in the 2022 draft, which seems a bit low in value in exchange for Collins. They do, however, own some interesting draft picks going forward, including an Orlando Magic selection.
With that being said, those don’t seem like assets the Hawks would be after considering they just made the Eastern Conference Finals. Two players I badly wanted to add last offseason — Alex Caruso and Ayo Dosunmu — could be interesting pieces the Hawks could use in return. Young forward Patrick Williams is another intriguing option. A Zach Lavine sign-and-trade also could be on the table.
Along with the Bulls, the Sacramento Kings have made calls about Collins:

I’m not too sure what the Kings would want with Collins, especially with Damontas Sabonis in the fold. I think Davion Mitchell would be a good piece in the trade — but there’s an obvious asset I would want if I’m the Hawks. The Kings own the fourth pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, and pairing Jaden Ivey with Trae Young is way too appealing to pass up.
I think a swap with the Trailblazers makes the most sense for the Hawks, but one thing is becoming clear, the Hawks may move John Collins, and he has plenty of suitors.
