This is more of a fun report, but Chris Kirschner dropped an interesting nugget on Hawks fans today:
Last month, the returning Hawks gathered in L.A. for some secret pickup games.
From Reddish locking up KD, the first look at Capela, Trae’s leadership and leaving with a winning record. They left confident.

There are some other good reports in there, but Chris works hard at the Athletic and you should subscribe if you want to read more about it.
I’m excited about Cam Reddish’s potential, and I’ve said multiple times, he has some (Regular Season) Paul George to his game. You have to get excited about him D-ing up possibly the greatest scoring threat of all time, even in a pickup game. It’s even more crucial when you realize that Atlanta has 3 matchups with the Nets in their first 20 games. Reddish ended 2020 on a tear before the NBA’s hiatus, and he owned the first 3 months of 2020:
January: 11.9 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 1.4 APG, 15 STL, 8 BLK (41% FG & 40% 3P)
February: 13.4 PPG, 3 RPG, 1.3 APG, 10 STL, 6 BLK (44% FG & 35% 3P)
March: 17.5 PPG, 4 RPG, 1.3 APG, 5 STL, 2 BLK (55% FG & 48% 3P)
While March was only 4 games, the shutdown came at a terrible time. Cam was on fire. He’s gonna be special, and I think he can approach that 17.5 PPG mark either off the bench or potentially starting later on. We’ve seen Reddish nab a few steals in the preseason, so let’s hope his defensive prowess carries over and spreads to his teammates.
