According to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic, Adrian Wojnarowski said that Travis Schlenk will refrain from dealing John Collins. “Expect him to finish the year with the Hawks,” Woj said regarding Collins, “and if they do anything, it’ll be around the edges.”
Woj said the Hawks are going to keep John Collins and "expect him to finish the year with the Hawks."

Over a week ago, Woj had the belief that Collins was unlikely to leave the Hawks via trade which he mentioned on The Woj Pod with ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.
“John Collins, I think, is unlikely to leave Atlanta,” said Adrian Wojnarowski. “I don’t think they can find value on a rookie contract for him. They’re 6-0 since Nate McMillan took over as head coach. I think they can figure out John Collins’ future… There was a limit they were willing to go in negations, around $90 million on an extension. He’ll be a restricted free agent. They can figure that out after the season.”
The primary issue a week ago was the salary matching situation. With John Collins only under contract for $4 million this season, it makes it extremely difficult to find a team that’s able to send out that little salary. Atlanta would almost certainly have to add another player to help match salaries. Now that Atlanta is playing playoff-caliber basketball, Travis Schlenk likely wants to see his offseason acquisitions continue to gel.
Schlenk likely believes in his vision that this team can make a deep push in the postseason once fully healthy. The Hawks are currently comfortably in the playoff picture without Kris Dunn and Cam Reddish, who are extremely valuable defensive pieces — and De’Andre Hunter JUST made his return after missing significant time.
