The Atlanta Hawks look to complete the trio of Atlanta sports teams heading to new stadiums. Accoring to a report from the AJC, the new ownership has made it clear they want to stay in Atlanta, and one of their main priorities is upgrading the arena situation. Apparently the Hawks are eyeing the Civic Center as one of many possible new locations for an arena. If the team decides to stay at Phillips Arena there will be a complete renovation of the Arena. New Owner Antony Ressler says, “Do-nothing is not an option.” It will be interesting to see what the team decides to do regarding the arena situation. Phillips Arena is not top of the line by any means, but it’s far from outdated and is right on the MARTA line. The team has already approached the city and Mayor Reed.
