Kevin Huerter did not participate in the preseason due to some knee pain but went through a full practice on Wednesday without any setbacks and will be ready to play in Thursday’s season opener versus the Pistons – Kevin Chouinard of the Atlanta Hawks’ official website reported today. However, Huerter will be limited to about 15 minutes as the team attempts to ease him back into things, meaning rookie Cam Reddish will start in his place.
Lloyd Pierce said that Kevin Huerter went through practice just fine.
Cam Reddish will start. Huerter will come off bench and be capped at around 15 minutes after missing the preseason.

Chouinard also reports that Reddish is too on a minutes restriction and will be limited to about 25 minutes to start the season. Rounding out Atlanta’s starting five for Thursday will be Trae Young, De’Andre Hunter, John Collins, and Alex Len.
Once Huerter’s back to 100%, or close to it, he should return to the starting lineup. Red Velvet proved to be an ideal complement to Trae Young at the two-guard spot with his elite shooting stroke and willingness to play off the ball. Many people around the league believe Huerter is a candidate to take a promising step forward in his sophomore season.
The Hawks begin their 82-game grind tomorrow night in Detroit as they aim to snap their brief two-year playoff drought.
