I have a feeling this year’s NBA Trade Deadline isn’t going to be as boring as many others have been in the past. Along with the multitude of rumors surrounding the Hawks’ interest in acquiring a center, they are now being linked to a multi-team blockbuster that could change the landscape of the league.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Minnesota Timberwolves are attempting to orchestrate a four-team trade, landing them D’Angelo Russell from the Golden State Warriors. Also involved in the deal would be the Rockets, who have been shopping Clint Capela, and the Hawks, who have remained the team seemingly most interested in acquiring Houston’s 25-year-old, rim-protecting big. It may take a lot of cooperation, but it appears each franchise has something the others desire, and this could be the perfect formula for a blockbuster trade.
Woj did not specify what exactly the Hawks will bring to the table in this deal, but one would have to imagine — considering all the rumors surrounding John Collins — that he could be apart of it. He would certainly move the needle for a lot of teams, and the Hawks aren’t going to land Capela for a couple of late first-round selections.
