The Hawks are expected to make wholesale changes to the roster this offseason.
Most expect the club to trade one of Dejounte Murray or Trae Young, with the former being the most popular guess. However, if they move Murray, it can’t be in a move to reset the roster.
Trae Young’s patience is clearly wearing thin with the organization. Nobody should blame him either. Since coming to Atlanta, Tony Ressler and the Hawks have failed Trae Young.
If Landry Fields’ ultimate decision is to move Dejounte Murray, the first-time GM cannot expect Young to wait around on a rebuild. Fields has to put a competitive team on the floor around Young, and there could be several All-Stars available on the free agent and trade markets.
One particular trade target seems to be emerging. Brandon Ingram finds himself in trade rumors after a disappointing season in New Orleans. The Pelicans were swept by the Thunder in the first round and many expect them to make changes.
Ingram is among those mentioned the most in trade rumors. The Hawks are actually the betting favorites to land him in a trade if the Pels move him. Atlanta sits at +300, followed by Orlando at +500, Sacramento at +600, and Cleveland at +700, per BetOnline.
Brandon Ingram is one of the better offensive wings in the league and offers length on the defensive side of the court that Atlanta currently doesn’t have. Ingram is coming off a campaign in which he averaged 20.8 points per game on 49.2% shooting from the field and 35.5% from beyond the arc to go along with 5.7 assists per game.
