The NBA Trade Deadline seemed like it could have been a stand-pat situation for the Hawks, but around the final hour mark, Atlanta acquired Saddiq Bey from the Golden State Warriors through the Detroit Pistons:

The Hawks are sending five second-round picks to the Warriors to acquire Bey, source tells ESPN.

I really like the deal; the Hawks don’t exactly have an impressive track record with second-round picks:
2021: Sharife Cooper
2020: Skylar Mays
2019: Bruno Fernando
2017: Tyler Dorsey
2016: Isaia Cordinier
2015: Dimitrios Agravanis & Marcus Eriksson
2014: Edy Tavares
Yeah I'm good on Second Round Picks

Bruno Fernando was actually traded back to the Hawks as I was typing this but not a great track record. The Saddiq Bey trade has a lot of interesting upside. The Villanova product was the 19th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and has been a consistent scorer for Detroit. Bey shot 38% from 3 as a rookie, 34.6% from 3 last season, and is currently canning 34.5% of his 3s.
Bey is a solid team defender, but he’s not going to lock down another team’s best guy. This is an upgrade for the Hawks, especially for the cost. Bey brings the Hawks some scoring; he’s currently averaging about 15 points per game. If he can give the Hawks some consistent buckets and play decent defense, I think Atlanta will end up happy with this move.
