The Horned Frogs put together a wildly impressive performance against the Michigan Wolverines to give themselves a chance at their first National Title since 1938. Max Duggan and the TCU offense couldn’t be stopped for much of the contest, and the defense came away with not one but two pick-6s in a 51-45 win.
Georgia’s win over Ohio State was equally impressive, but for different reasons. The Bulldogs trailed by 14 late in the second half, but Stetson Bennett and UGA’s offense was unstoppable in the fourth quarter, coming up with multiple touchdown drives in what will go down as one of the best CFP Semifinal games since its inception. For the first time in months, Georgia looked vulnerable, narrowly escaping the Buckeyes 42-41, but Vegas still sees the Bulldogs as massive favorites over the Horned Frogs.
The line for the National Championship Game opened at 12.5 in favor of Georgia and has already been bet up to 13.5. Early sharp money is on the Bulldogs, as most of the public is heavily favoring TCU.
I wouldn’t be shocked to see this line continue to rise as we approach game time. The Horned Frogs have been a tremendous story, and they looked like they belonged against Michigan, but had the Wolverines not shot themselves in the foot on several occasions, they likely would have earned a rematch with Georgia.
Georgia versus TCU is a mismatch. That’s not to say the Horned Frogs can’t come out victorious if the Bulldogs sleep walk into this game, but that doesn’t feel likely from a Kirby Smart coached team. I like Georgia to win this one comfortably, taking home their second National Championship trophy in as many years.
